 2003 - Jalen Rose Makes an Assist in the Community for Every Assist on the Court ... More than 300 kids welcomed Jalen as he presented a $19,750 contribution to the Valentine Boys & Girls Club on Wednesday, June 25. The Jalen Rose Foundation contributed $50 for each of the 395 assists Jalen produced during the 2002-03 NBA season. The donation will be used by the club for their Basketball League as well as other daily operations and programs. Following the check presentation, Jalen spoke to the young people about teamwork and good sportsmanship, goals that are instilled on a daily basis at the club. For more than 100 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago has been an anchor of hope, stability and opportunity in the often chaotic lives of Chicago's youth during the critical after-school hours. Boys & Girls Clubs are staffed by caring and trained professionals who engage more than 12,000 young people each year in fun and life-enhancing activities everyday after-school. Club programs instill a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence that enhance their self-esteem and help young people achieve their full potential. |
