2003: JRF Celebrity Weekend - Sunday
sunday_main.jpg2003 - The highlight of The Jalen Rose Foundation Celebrity Weekend was Jalen's All-Star Charity Basketball game on Sunday, August 17, at the United Center. The star-studded event drew over 15,000 fans to watch their favorite NBA players including; Ricky Davis, Quentin Richardson, Corey Maggette, Carmelo Anthony, Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce, Bobby Simmons, Donyell Marshall, T.J. Ford, Juwan Howard, Maurice Taylor, Howard Eisley, Dale Davis & Chris Webber. Jalen kept himself in the giving mood on the court as he dished out a game high 16 assists while Ricky Davis led all scorers with 52 points.

Cedric the Entertainer, Ice Cube & LisaRaye all stopped by the all-star game to serve as honorary coaches. They used strategic plays to keep the high scoring game close, with the red team defeating the white team in the end. R&B sensation ASHANTI made a special appearance at halftime to sing her #1 single, Awww baby...

Special quest appearances and performances also included Chicago Idol winner, Maurice Mahon, Chicago Idol runner-up, White Boy, Trinity United Church of Christ Teen Choir, along with United Center favorites the Luvabulls, Bucket Boys, Acro Squad and IncrediBulls.

Prior to the game, the Professional Basketball Writers Association presented the annual Magic Johnson Award to Jalen for the 2002-03 season. The Magic Johnson Award is given to the NBA player who best combines the attributes of Hall of Famer Johnson: Excellence on the basketball court, cooperation with the media and public and community service.

The Jalen Rose Foundation raised over $100,000 throughout the weekend and proceeds will be donated, on behalf of the Jalen Rose Foundation (JRF), to The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Special Olympics Illinois, Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, Chicago Public Schools and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, making a positive impact on thousands of lives.
Following the game, fans were invited to attend the Players' Dinner Party at Dave & Buster's and then Chromium Nightclub to wrap the weekend.
