| 2005: Jalen Donates 100 New Coats to Goodwill Drive |
|
Donations of coats, jackets, sweaters, winter shoes, boots and gloves will be collected from fans prior to the Toronto Raptors home game on Sunday, January 30, 2005 versus the Phoenix Suns. Goodwill volunteers and the Lady Raptors will accept donations at all Air Canada Centre gate entrances. "By donating gently used clothing and household items to Goodwill, individuals are helping to make a difference in our community," said Ken Connelly, President and CEO of Goodwill. "Every donation made during the drive supports Goodwill's goal of creating healthier, stronger communities by providing work access to people facing employment barriers." Toronto Raptors guard/forward Jalen Rose is serving as this year's official Raptors spokesperson during the Goodwill Winter Clothing Drive and he is predicting that Toronto fans will be generous again this year in donating much-needed clothing. "The Raptors are excited to partner with Goodwill and assist in the Winter Clothing Donation Drive," said Rose, who is kicking off the 2005 campaign by personally donating 100 new winter coats. "The campaign is a great way to give back to the Toronto community and raise awareness about the need for winter clothing donations." ABOUT GOODWILL: Goodwill is a Canadian registered charity that has been in operation since 1935.
