New York, NY (March 7, 2006) - BLACK ENTERPRISE magazine's Keys to a
Better Life, brief business reports that air twice daily on 29 Clear
Channel radio stations, will be voiced by New York Knicks Guard-Forward
Jalen Rose throughout the month of March. Rose, 33, will cover a broad range of topics in the reports, including personal finance, homeownership, credit, and health. "There are millions of young African Americans around the country who want to get an education, raise a family, and be successful in the business world, but they need some guidance on critical issues such as how to pay for student loans, manage their finances, or buy a home," says Rose. "We as a community must communicate with young adults so they can be armed with the information they'll need to make solid decisions that will allow them to get a good education, save money, and raise a family in the complicated world we live in today." The Detroit native is one of the NBA's most versatile players, having served as point guard, shooting guard, and small forward throughout his 11-year career. Rose was traded to the New York Knicks in February 2006 after successful stints with the Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls (where he received the team's Player of the Year Award during the 2003-04 season), and Indiana Pacers. His NBA career began in 1994 when the Denver Nuggets drafted him the first round. A committed philanthropist, Rose sponsors a charity ticket section called "the rose garden" at his home games and donates $50 to various charities for every assist he makes during the season. In addition to establishing The Jalen Rose Endowed Scholarship at his alma mater, the University of Michigan, where he studied mass communications, he donates $50,000 in college scholarships to Detroit high school seniors every year. |
